Willow go to Wollaton

Today Willow class have been on an exciting adventure to Wollaton Hall.

We dressed as Tudors to entertain Sir Francis Willoughby

(owner of Wollaton Hall in 1588)

Firstly, we learnt all about the Elizabethan explorers and all the places they had discovered. We learnt of their adventures on the high seas and how they had to use compasses to help them to come back home.

We made our own compasses and even used quill and ink to write on them!

Then we learnt a dance that we would later perform for Sir Francis Willoughby. As well as learning the best way to bow and courtesy towards him!

Learning to dance!

Next we headed to the kitchens to learn about all the expensive spices and to help make the March pane (marzipan) for Sir Francis.

Our March Pane Coat of Arms!

We had a wonderful day and have learnt so much about the Tudors!
